The World Trick Shot Championship (WTC) is a world championship in trick shot billiards. The first edition of the competition took place in 1991 on snooker table. Matchroom Sport organized the competition. Matchroom Sport organized it. In 2005, the competition took place at Celtic Manor.
Many professional billiards players from around the world began performing tricks shots in the 1970s. These players were awarded prizes including the World Championship of Artistic Pool (ICCP), the International Challenge Cup and the Swedish Championship. Trick shot is a type of pool that is sanctioned by the World Pool-Billiard Alliance. Trick shot artists not only play in tournaments but also teach the sport to others.
Mike Massey has been a world-famous trick shot artist since the late 1970s. He has played with many sports stars, including Jason Gedrick (and Paul Sorvino). Massey was also an instructor and fundraiser for the sport. His performances at the Waste Management Pheonix Open and the Volvo PGA at Wentworth have garnered him a significant level of visibility.
Mike Massey is a teacher of many professionals in the field, including Scott Baiin (Dean Cain) and James Tolkan. He has participated in many international professional competitions. This team has also performed at the HSBC Championships in Abu Dhabi and at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
Jim Sommer is another talented trick shot artist. He has participated at many international Trick-shot turning competitions and has also traveled all over the United States to compete for the US Nationals. He was the winner of the US Nationals Artistic Pool Championship.
The World Trick Shot Artists Association of (WTSAA), a group that includes trick shot artists from all parts of the globe, is called the World Trick Shot Artists Association. Paul Gerni, world champion trick shot artist, is the founder of the association. The WTSAA Book contains 160 tricks. Some of these tricks include: the machine gun shot; the "kick", shot; and the quick fire shot. Other tricks shots include the "pro", "extreme", and "prop" shots.
Tim "The Dragon" Chin, the 2022 US Nationals Artistic Pool Champion, won the prestigious title by defeating Jason "The Michigan Kid" Lynch in the finals. Both Lynch and Chin have been ranked WPA World. Lynch is still an Ohio State student, but Chin has the advantage as a seasoned professional.
October 9-10 will see the next Trick Shot Magic event. The competition will feature eight international superstars of the sport. The purse is worth $40,000. Each player will have the option to pick from six to ten preset shots. Each player will have three chances to complete each shot after they've chosen their favorite shots. Those who make a successful shot will earn a point.
Geoff McIlroy was the best trick shot artist of all time for many years. Noel Hunt inspired him to learn trick shots. He has fallen from ladders and met people that he never thought he would meet, but he has never given up on trying.
