There are many rules that govern the service of the shuttlecock. These rules are essential for winning badminton matches.

The most important shot of a badminton rally is the service. This is a shot that cannot be missed once and will award the receiver a point. This right is earned by the receiver winning a rally in official BWF play.

There are many rules regarding service that will vary depending on the game. The most important rule is that you can not serve overhead or touch any part of the net with a body. You can only serve diagonally across the net. You cannot hit the shuttlecock more than once in a row.
