Snooker is traditionally seen as a man's game. Women are generally seen as being inferior. However, recent success by Asian female players has resulted in a new generation, and the future for women's Snooker looks bright.

In 2019, Australia hosted the first women's ranking competition. Nutcharut Wongharuthai won it. She is believed to have been the first woman to break 147. She was born 1999, so she is eligible to participate on the World Snooker Tour professional next season.

In the first round, she will play Neil Robertson, world number 2.
