Snooker is traditionally seen as a man's game. Women are generally seen as being inferior. However, recent success by Asian female players has resulted in a new generation, and the future for women's Snooker looks bright.
In 2019, Australia hosted the first women's ranking competition. Nutcharut Wongharuthai won it. She is believed to have been the first woman to break 147. She was born 1999, so she is eligible to participate on the World Snooker Tour professional next season.
Chitra Sri Krishnamurthy is another Asian woman snooker player. She was the first Indian woman to win Australian Open Snooker Championship (2008). She also won the six-red snooker championship in 2011. Her first appearance in the Eden World Ladies Senior Championships was in 2014. She has also reached finals in the Eden World Ladies Senior Championships.
Reanne Evan is the world's top lady snooker players. She is currently the world champion and has won ten titles in world snooker. She has been invited wildcard to play on the men's touring in 2010/11. For her contributions to snooker, she was also awarded an MBE.
Reanne Evans was raised in Dudley (West Midlands). She started playing pool at age 14 and has since gone on to become a professional snooker player. She has also won eight billiards, and ball pool titles. She is currently the holder of the World Pool Championship title. She is also the European Masters champion and the most popular female player in the UK.
