Snooker was historically viewed as a game for men, and female players were generally considered to be inferior. However, recent success by Asian female players has resulted in a new generation, and the future for women's Snooker looks bright.

In 2019, Australia hosted the first women's ranking competition. Nutcharut Wiongharuthai took the title. She is believed that she was the first woman to record a 147 break. She was born in 1999 and is eligible to play on the next season of the World Snooker Tour.

Another Asian lady snooker player is Chitra Krishnamurthy. She was the first Indian woman ever to win the Australian Open Snooker Championship 2008. She won the six-red championship in snooker in 2011. Her debut appearance in 2014 at the Eden World Ladies Senior Championships marked her second appearance. She reached the final of Eden World Ladies Senior Championships.

Reanne Evans is the world's number one lady snooker player. She has won ten world titles, and is the reigning world champion. She was also invited to the wildcard tour of the men's tour in the 2010/11 season. For her contribution to snooker she has been awarded an MBE.

Reanne Evans was born and raised in Dudley, West Midlands. At age 14, she began playing pool and has gone on to be a professional snooker player. In addition to snooker, she has also won eight ball pool and billiards titles. She is currently the holder of the World Pool Championship title. She has also won the European Masters and is the most successful female player in the UK.

Evans was seven-and-a-half months pregnant when she won the ladies' world title in 2006. She was also the first woman to make it to the main stages of a ranking tournament. She qualified for the televised stages of the Wuxi Classic in China, and beat Thailand's Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 5-4 in a qualifying match.

Evans is the current world number one. She has won ten world titles and received an MBE for her services to snooker. She has also been awarded a wildcard invitation to compete on the professional tour for the 2010/11 season. She will compete in London's final stages in the world ranking event. Reanne McIlroy (Reanne Evans), Emma Bonney, Kelly Fisher, and Reanne Evans are just a few of the great female players around. They are all former world number ones, and are some of the greatest snooker players of all time. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association states that there is no discrimination against women in snooker. At the moment, there are only two women ranked among the top 30 in the world's men's rankings. Women's snooker's future is bright if there are female players who can challenge these world-class players.

There are many talented lady snooker players in the world, and the future looks bright. The sport is growing in the United States and other countries, and Mike Dominguez, owner of OX Billiards in Seattle, hopes to get the sport to grow in the U.S.
