Whether you're a pool player or just a fan of the game, the Billiard Congress of America (BCA) is a leading organization that organizes billiard sports and promotes the game throughout the United States. It is headquartered at Broomfield in Colorado and has an office in Atlanta, Georgia. The BCA, as an organization, is involved in all aspects of the sport and has played a major role in the promotion and development of 3-Cushion billiards and snooker.
The BCA is also a governing body that is tasked with overseeing and providing input on the rules and specifications of games and tournaments. In addition to playing a key role in sanctioning tournaments, BCA offers educational resources and leadership opportunities to promote the sport and the game of pool.
Since more than 100 years, the BCA has played an important role in the promotion and development of pool. The BCA promotes pool through education and leadership opportunities. It also supports the next generation of players with scholarships and other programs. The Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame honors outstanding players and contributers.
The Official Rules and Records Book was one of its many activities. It contains the standardized rules used in the World Pool-Billiard Assocation (WPA). It also provides a guide that explains the rules for various other games. The U.S. Open 14.1 Championships are also promoted through the BCA.
The BCA also supports and sanctions championship tournaments. The BCA is the governing body of pocket billiards in America. Every year, BCA holds a tradeshow that displays a wide variety products including billiards barstools, casual furnishings, and other cues.
The BCA also organizes the BCA Pool League which is a league sanctioning organisation. More than 450 leagues are sanctioned in the United States, as well as eight other countries. It also hosts the BCAPL National 8-Ball Championships, which have 22 divisions. BCAPL's membership is also more than 50,000.
BCA also holds the annual BCA Summit. It features seminars on a wide range of home and billiard topics as well as social events to foster peer relationships. Since 1982, it has hosted the BCA Expo. It will unite again with Amusement Expo International, (AEI), during the March 27-30 event in Las Vegas.
The Billiard Congress of America Official Rules and Records Book is also maintained by the BCA. It includes all rules of billiards including nine-ball. You can also find a rulebook for games that aren’t open to international competition.
While the BCA isn't as concerned with league play as the Billiards Association of America(APA), it is still a major supporter of the sport. It offers education resources, leadership opportunities, referral services, and other support.
