
Shaun Murphy, a world-class player in snooker, is well-known for his straight cue action and long potting. He has achieved over 400 century breaks in his career, including the second maximum break in the Championship League in 2014.
Murphy was ranked three in the world for the 2008/2009 season. For the 2010/2011 seasons, Murphy fell to number 7. He won the Players Tour Championship that year and finished his career Triple Crown. Murphy was considered a huge underdog at the time, and it was a surprising win. Then in 2012 he reached the final of the UK Championship. But, he was defeated by Judd Trump who became the eventual winner.
Murphy is a gifted player. He has had many firsts. Among these are his first 147 break, his first ranking title, and his first World Snooker Championship appearance.
He started his career in 1998 on the Challenge Tour. Also known as the UK Tour. His father, Tony, was a professional golfer. As a teenager, he was bullied at school. He went to homeschooling classes but didn't see his mother until he was 19. He met Elaine a year later and they were married June 2006. The couple got engaged despite the opposition of his family.

Over PS3 million has been won by Shaun in prize money over his entire career. He has won seven tournaments not ranking. He has also played in eight ranking tournaments and reached the quarterfinals of two.
He was ranked fourth in the world at the beginning of the 2004/2005 season. He also won both the Brugge Open (Welsh Open) and the Brugge Open. He was diagnosed with Savant Syndrome by this point, which is a condition that causes an autistic person to have superior skills.
He won the World Championship 2005. He was also named Sportsman of the year by the BBC the following year. After that, he became a surgical resident at the San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital in California.
Murphy was an awkward young boy who struggled to communicate with other people. His social skills could have been affected. While he's had some difficult relationships, he was able to work through them. Elaine, his girlfriend, proposed to him at a Irish restaurant during one his matches.
When he was 15, he was coached by Ray Reardon. Following that, he worked with Steve Prest until 2006. Willie Thorne served as his coach during the 2007/2008 seasons. He won the Challenge Tour’s third & fourth events.

Murphy won the Wuxi Classic, China. After that, Murphy entered the elite top 16. His next appearance came at the inaugural Northern Ireland Trophy. Despite only having five frames in his qualifying round, he made it to the quarterfinals where he defeated teenager Luca Brecel.
He went on to win the German Masters and the Ruhr Championship as well as the inaugural Northern Ireland Trophy. He remained at number 3 for the entire 2008/2009 campaign. He reached the semi-finals at the UK Championship and Shanghai Masters during the same season.
